It's thicker and more dense due to slightly different additives to the gypsum core. More mass = more sound absorption.

Not actually measured it with the floor in but it should go from 1.95 to about 2.25. So an average of 2.1m.
It just, just, fits in the EBU guidelines.

Drew you can get intumescent acoustic stuff like plasticine to go on the back of your flush mount sockets. which may help...

At the moment, pretty horrible :)
Acoustic treatment is the next job, just waiting for the rockwool to arrive.

Digging the white chair. I bet it makes the colours of a Hawaiian shirt really pop!

I see you've got your silver accordion already installed to the left of the chair. ;)

the chair is from Ikea and actually took a bit of time to find. I wanted a properly adjustable one, at a reasonable price, without arms.
Fits the bill nicely. :)

The silver accordion is a practice one, strictly for warming up... ;)

I've yet to find a decent one :(
The one I had at work was positively ancient, yet solid and held it's position perfectly. All the modern ones seem to have a weak back, that can't cope when you lean against it. Then after a few months the gas strut develops a leak and you find yourself slowly sinking - Oh, and before anyone says anything I'm below average weight for my height.

Well, I've only had this a week, so too short a time to comment on gas containment issues (hurhurhur), but comfort and solidity are good. So far I would recommend it.

I know this isn't really the interesting bit, but the outside is now done:

Further progress on the inside is currently on hold whilst I wait for the quality manager to visit next week.
Vexingly the sound meter i bought appears to be faulty. :(
