Mixing tutorials online-any recommendations?

Postby rikki rivett » Tue Feb 18, 2020 11:23 am

I'm tempted by

https://theproaudiofiles.com

...anybody checked them out? Alternative suggestions? They do a 7 day free trial which I'll go for now.

There's possibly a load of free stuff -YouTube videos & the like - out there too...?

Thx

RR

EDIT: searching Gearslutz came up with some useful leads. Fab Filter's YouTube channel is recommended, for instance

Well, first off, do check out the hundreds of Mix Rescue articles from SOS! Lots of useful mix advice in those. And seeing as you can get an online sub to SOS, I'll recommend that first :)

Mike Senior's Mixing Secrets book comes with lots of online resources, including multitrack files to practice on, and kind of draws together all the Mix Rescue work he's done and more.

In terms of video content, there's so much to choose from, some paid, some free. Personally, I quite like Warren Huart's videos — really clearly explained and really easy to follow — and the Into The Lair videos on Pensado's Place. Also check out the channels for any DAW software you use...

But it all really depends on where you're at at the moment, and what sort of teaching/learning style works for you as a 'student'.

And don't forget the superb videos and e-books at SampleCraze, written and produced by our own forum guru, Zukan

And of course there's our very own Eddie Bazil AKA 'Zukan' and his 'Samplecraze' tutorials.

edit:- Lightning fingers Robjohns got there first but Sam got the link-in (see what I did there ;) )

Hey, great stuff, thanks all - I like Samplecraze, will def. check Eddie out :-)

Mix Rescue...of course. Been reading SOS for decades. Love it.

I'm actually finding that just exposing myself to material -e.g Recording Revolution gets the grey matter warmed up and reminds me of a lot I actually already knew, whether intuitively or otherwise, but hadn't approached systematically. The tip to start out balancing and EQing in mono, for instance....and without effects,,,

Now also including a brand new very good video series: https://www.soundonsound.com/forum/view ... 16&t=70324
