Strange view of magazine pages online

Postby Eddy Deegan » Mon Feb 24, 2020 1:20 pm

I've seen this before, and maybe it's just a glitch that will fix itself (or something to do with some backend work going on at present) but when I access https://www.soundonsound.com/magazine I see the following at the top of all pages within the magazine:

Specifically the 'Skip to main content' and 'You are here' texts. I'm running Firefox on Windows 10. The issue does not appear in Microsoft Edge.

In the Firefox console I see the following:

It all looks normal to me using Brave on a Win7 desktop, and using whatever the browser is on an Android phone.

I presume you've flushed the cache to force it to reload the style sheets etc?

Is there an updated version of Firefox around -- it would seem from those logs that Firefox is struggling to read some commands...

Can confirm I'm running the latest version, but I think this explains it:

I quit firefox and restarted it 30 seconds later. When it restarted, it warned me that one instance was still present and not responding. Killing this process permitted a clean restart and everything is fine again, so I think the problem is that when Firefox has a non-responsive background tab or window (which in my case is likely, I run it quite hot when I'm working) it causes the issue.

Another day, another discovery!

I had the same back in December last year. https://www.soundonsound.com/forum/view ... 30&t=69164

It just seems to happen from time to time.

Seems to be restricted to the Firefox browser... and a forced refresh cures it.

If a forced refresh doesn't have the desired effect, then fully quitting the browser (not just the tab, the whole application) and restarting it might work.

Firefox is slightly strange in some respects according to our front-end devs at work. We were only able to offer full support for it as a client relatively recently, nearly 2 years after Chrome and Edge.

Glad to see another user who has stuck with the Brave browser - I'm still impressed!

Yes -- thanks for the recommendation. I'm very impressed with it.
