and on this, number 2 has my vote. It too me sounds the fullest. The difference between the original and the master 2, is of the greatest improvement. The original has a very small sound. a couple of the masters i think emphasized this, and came away with an even boxier sound. But it sounds like number 2 here I think had conciously worked on correcting it.

And yet again it said I'd voted which I hadn't. My choice is #2.
Great concept and great article. Unfortunate that after spending a couple of hours listening and comparing the system failed. (But PLEASE keep those DVD's coming! They're fabulous!)

Terrible mix to work on, IMHO. The low end is undefined (bass?? bassdrum?? low tones of guitar??). Impossible to correct in mastering.
The singer is very uneven. Boosting/compressing the singers frequencies helps, but often distorts (master 2 & 6).
I voted for 1, because it sounded most natural and warm. Though I doubted for choosing master 2 (aggressive sound with the singer more present).
After two hours of intensive listening, I don't have any courage anymore to examine the other songs. Maybe later.

This is my few words.
Re: Vote SOS ON-LINE MASTERING Blind Test : The Resistance
My vote goes to nr.2 Baltic Fleet, as with the other masterings of the other numbers i've listen too, I think this one has the most 'breath' in the low end and still a clear and polished mid and high spectrum, with a nice wide stereo-image.
