Gibson- Is it a Covid thing?

Postby Dynamic Mike » Sat Jul 25, 2020 2:24 am

I can't seem to buy a Gibson for love nor money. I'm after an L-00 Deluxe & a 50's Les Paul Standard. Everywhere in the UK seems to be out of stock until 7th August. You can get the 60th Anniversary model but they're just silly money.

Is it too late to cancel cancel culture?

At the risk of being 'that keyboard guy' who's not getting some subtle subtext known only to devotees of the axe, there are a number of Gibsons in stock down the road from me at GAK.

There's only the left hand version of the L-00 deluxe in stock but there are three '50s Les Paul Standards.

I just had a look at GAK and there are no 50's standards in stock.

Supplies may have been disrupted but also guitar sales have risen during lockdown

I know that a similar thing has happened to bike sales (my Brother-in-law owns a bike shop). No new stocks until end of the year.

I hope you weren't getting mixed up with the Epiphones Eddy...? Because that wouldn't fix your reputation. ;)

I believe that amongst the ivory-tinklers the current favoured description of a guitar is 'an aerial nailed to a plank'... ;)
I'm not sure if the good doctor has added this to the glossary yet though... :)

Unless this is private joke....
The links Eddy gave are fine, there are 3 50s Gibson Les Pauls (including a nice one with p90s). There are Epiphones too, but as Mr. D said, those Gibsons are there.

Same list, just filtered by Gibson only:
https://www.gak.co.uk/Results?q=50%27s% ... son&c=&pt=

None of them are in stock, I don't see these mythical 3 in stock Standards...

I guess it's time to round up a posse with pitch forks and torches......

I’m a "keyboard guy" and the owner of a lime green Flying V, I have no intention of learning to play it, although I have given it more than a passing glance during lockdown, as far as guitars go I’ve never got to grips with them, they just confound me, they look beautiful, and feel nice, but anything beyond that is.....er....beyond me.

The description is quite wrong really.
A plank has a much cleaner profile

An Aerial nailed to a plank !!! I think you will find that the usual form of attachment is a strap not a nail.

Don’t let that get in the way of writing a hit song. It hasn’t prevented others!
Lime green - sounds bizarrely cool!
