I bloody hate saxes, tenor saxes in particular, but only when they’re on their own in an arrangement... like when they’re supposed to sound all sexy and sophisticated but sound like a US sitcom theme tune. But I love them in a nice tight Stax-type section. Odd really.

I always thought Ry Cooder's soundtrack to Southern Comfort was way better than the much more famous banjo-based musical known as Deliverance.
Every time I hear it, I just wanna squeal like a pig.

Yep, that feature is a fascinating read, yet I was surprised that Billy Decker defaults to replacing the original kick drum with a custom mix of four sampled sounds, using Slate Trigger.

The irony is that he's almost certainly replacing top session drummers with samples...played by Slate's top session drummers. Who knows: maybe it's the same drummers!

Does this include Baker Street, Will You? (solo for half the song) and lots of Supertramp tracks? I prefer alto and soprano versions myself and sort of know what you’re saying about the tenor sax.
