Hi
Could anyone recommend a pair of studio monitor headphones (Closed Back) nothing to high tech, just entry level, mostly for listening in on piano sample library's.
Thanks.

Any reason for closed back?
If you're just listening to samples (i.e. not recording anything at the same time with a microphone) open backs would probably give you better sound?
e.g. AKG K702 seem to get good feedback on this forum.

Cubase, guitars.

There's loads but the Beyer DT770 are a classic. Also the AT50x but they are brighter.

I don't know why you would want to be looking at closed back? SOS have done a couple of articles on this subject, so try a search or three.

I just got some AKG K702's off Amazon for £99 - bargain!
Very happy with them.
I think I benefited from Amazon sellers matching the ex VAT Thomann price :D

I bought the AKG K702 headphones and can't speak highly enough of them. About £110 which seems a great price.

Another vote for DT770s if you want closed back, all day comfortable and excellent isolation.

Let me guess - you don't mix in the same room as the wife and kids are looking at the TV, right?

Every time I'm using my K702's my wife asks me "do you know how loud that is?" to which the answer is "Yes, because you tell me every single time!".

K702's and Sennheiser HD25's here. Both are around £120 just now and in both cases I'd replace should the need arise.

A wise move, I am sure Lady Elf would be rather surprised if you suddenly showed up at her office
