Two for one:

Martin: Yes Russell did do a very good review, completely out of the blue as well I just knew someone who was going over to his studio and he asked me for a mic he could drop in his studio box. Very nice bloke.

Arpangel: I don’t know which track you mean but Tara’s is still up, here is the direct link:

https://soundcloud.com/tarabusch/war-pigs-patreon-sneak-peek

and yes the old megaphone, Chumbawumba, Flaming Lips etc., through a distortion still works a treat.

Take care

Finally got round to rigging mine up at practice on Thursday - had to fight the urge to use it on every song! :)

It's brilliant for our stuff, one of those things we didn't realise we were missing until we had it.
Only challenges are rigging a sufficiently robust mic stand set up and i'll need to build a mute footswitch for it.
That's some way down the project list though...

I find the Audio Technica AT8471 clips work really well or any screw clamp type mic clip. I’ve also made a personal decision to stop answer emails and posts Dethniteblod since it makes me sound like a goth superhero.

Cheers, I'll have a look for one of them. My current collection are either too large or two small - naturally...
P.S. what's wrong with being a goth superhero? ;)

If you were looking to use it on a stand all the time and want to make it 100% secure you can unscrew the retaining screw at the bottom put some kind of sleeve with a hole in that's attached to a mic clip and then screw it back in (Basically just screw it to something.). The screw only holds the xlr in and stops it from rotating so you shouldn't do any damage by taking in and out. The next step up from using old parts was always going to be casting a custom mic case with a built in mic thread. I don't think I'll ever have enough money to do that and I can't show you the design because Tinkercad is on the fritz but I'll post up the designs sometime if anyone is interested.

Yep, I'm thinking about something home made but it's just another in a looooong list of projects at the moment. Some of which even involve actually making some music! ;)

I don't know if anyone is interested but this is what the mark 2 would have looked like, I got as far as 3d printing it but the start up costs of making my own cases were too much. The gold insert is the microphone thread and the black was the xlr socket.

Here's a view from the side that shows the shape better, maybe one day.

Wow - now all you need is to have it chromed, and it would be a dead ringer for a vintage car headlamp 8-)

It would have looked cool and professional but I've always loved the green plumbing style of my BM88 :)

It's funny you say that because in many ways the weight and shape of the cases at the moment make it easy to hold and also easy to hang down the front of a guitar amp, the cone shape would be more slippy and not hang as well. One of those form over function or if ain't broke don't muck about with it. Also when I did sell them they went for £30 and if did start making them again I would stick to that and there is no way I could sell them for that with custom made cases.
