Ha you know I don't think you're wrong - I think selling at gigs is one of the only ways an unsigned band can actually sell records. And in that context, people will obviously pay more for an album than they will a single. There is a caveat to this, that being that the viability of this depends on the sort of people that come to gigs...it's easier if they've seen a CD before, and remember paying for them in the past.

I once got band tea-towels made, thinking they'd be cheaper than T-shirts, and one size fits all.

Not one of my more lucrative commercial ventures.
