I've always found that having a drink ultimately makes an injury feel worse :(

Indeed, but sometimes it seems like a good idea at the time.

Cracked rib pain take a few days to fully develop before you are at the "can't move or breathe at all without hurting" point.

Yers, done them before a few times. Get a bad one and it's one of the most painful things you can break.
Fortunately this one is one of the upper ribs and off to one side so there's less movement when breathing.
I just need to make sure no-one makes me laugh...

Ow... sorry to hear about the injury Drew. I cracked a rib in the USA years ago when I got broadsided participating in a 'fun' go-karting event organised by the company I worked for. I had to fly back the following day and that's a 10+ hour flight I won't forget in a hurry.

Wishing you a speedy recovery (and your DIY project is looking splendid!)

Look on it as a chance to reflect upon work done to date and plan next steps.

"Ye Olde Photoshoppe" in fact. With a little bell that rings when you open the door.

For once, this is an experience I'm pleased to have missed. Still, commiserations Drew.

I'm enjoying the way this thread has diverged. I shall be taking a bit of time now to double check measurements and calculations for the next phase.
Maybe I should photoshop up an artists impression of the finished room...?
