Feedback on Mix?

Postby Gosintary » Mon Aug 05, 2019 2:42 am

Hey, I'm new to this community, but I'm hoping to stick around and make some friends!
I have a song I've been working on and I would like some feedback.

Audio track link: ... -3/s-GBSxk

Any tips/feedback are greatly appreciated!

Much Love,

Hi Ethan, and welcome to the SOS Forums! 8-)

Just had a quick listen to your track snippet, and I love its attitude and mix. Everything seems well balanced and has its own place in the mix, and there are plenty of little touches/changes that give the track real character.

The only thing I'd question is the sound of the vocals, which to my ears sound a little uncertain compared with all the other instruments. Adding some effects (a little distortion perhaps, or some echo repeats) would help them fit better into the context of the mix.

Other than that though, I really enjoyed this!

Keep up the good work!

As Martin said, the vocal feels like it needs a bit more attitude to match the drive of the rest of the song. I'd also be tempted to add a bit more room sound to it all, it's very tight and clean but feels like a collection of separately recorded tracks rather than a band-in-a-room.
This is purely subjective of course and I should caveat that this is a fair way from my usual genres. :)
I do like those drums though, lots of snap to them. :)
