Animated Scores for Performance

Postby mac.churchmouse » Thu May 28, 2020 4:59 am

I'm a neurologically disabled classical musician and singer, and as I've grown more aware of the effects of my disability I've become more interested in making my performances more accessible in general.
I enjoy 'animated' scores on Youtube - especially the ones that move a highlight or cursor over the score in sync with the audio. I'd like to be able to project something similar during my recitals - ideally the melody line with text.
Because my work is hybrid and borders on Performance Art I use pre-recorded backings of various types played back through Logic, so getting things in sync shouldn't be a problem. I also compose and edit all my scores in Sibelius (Version 3 - after that it's not accessible to me as it became just too complicated). However I can't find much useful information on how to create video scores I can play back in concert.
Any thoughts or guidance about where I might look for info, or how I might do this (as simply as possible) would be much appreciated.
Nga mihi nui, Many thanks,
Glenn

It looks like Sibelius 7 introduced a video export feature which might have been useful, but it doesn't seem to have made it to V8 after the shakeup.

There's an example here of a scrolling score with an explanation of how it was done; no cursor though.

(In general, it sounds like a fairly complicated process.)

On a Mac it's possible to record the screen output in real time (not sure if Windows does similar) maybe that would work?

Thanks folks - appreciate the leads.
Obviously going to have to try and learn some new stuff - which will be intriguing as the offshoot of my disability is difficulties in learning!
I have Sibelius 7.5 but it has the worst interface I think I've ever had to deal with so it seems the Mac OS option might be more accessible to me?
Anyhoo, nga mihi nui, many thanks. Glenn
