Also the guitar duel between Ralph "Karate Kid" Macchio and Steve Vai at the end of the 1986 movie Crossroads. Basically it's a classically trained guitarist pit against a rock guitarist, no prizes for guessing who wins! There's a Ry Cooder soundtrack to the rest of the film to boot.

I'm fairly sure my preference for Tele's starts with that movie...

That's a good summing up BJG - I wouldn't listen to it for pleasure, but as a vehicle for displaying technique it's jaw-droppingly good.
