1010music Bluebox compact digital mixer synth Eurorack setup

1010music have just released a free firmware update that brings some nice new features to their renowned Bluebox digital mixer. Available for both the standard desktop version and the Eurorack Edition, the latest firmware includes an array of user-requested functionality.

Already a popular choice for those with modular rigs and hardware-based synth setups, the Bluebox is a compact all-in-one mixer and effects processor. As with all of the company’s offerings, it combines a colour touchscreen with a set of physical knobs and buttons, and has been designed with speed and ease of use in mind. It already offered instant hands-on control over the likes of volume, gain, EQ and panning, along with onboard delay and reverb effects, and thanks to the latest firmware update, is now capable of a whole lot more.

What’s New?

Here’s a quick look at what 1010music have added in the latest firmware version:

  • Side-chain Compression: With visual envelope control and trigger via audio, MIDI, CV/Gate or Clock
  • New USB Audio Engine: 24/48kHz input and output with Mac, PC or iOS — stereo for the desktop version and 12 inputs/18 outputs for Eurorack Edition.
  • Micro SD Mode: Mount the Bluebox as a USB drive on your computer to transfer tracks and samples.
  • Spectrum Analyser: 32 bands of real-time frequency response on the EQ screen.
  • Tuner: Tune an oscillator, sample, guitar or other audio source fast and easy.
  • Oscilloscope: See the waves you make with this cool new analysis tool.

Availability

The new firmware 1.5 update is available now, and is free to existing Bluebox users.
