Acustica Audio’s latest release greatly expands on their amp-simulation platform, turning it into a “complete amplification environment” that models an entire signal chain. Built using a version of the company’s Nova technology, Aero 2 offers a complete recreation of every stage of a traditional guitar rig, and offers an array of in-depth tone-shaping tools.
In terms of new content, Aero 2 comes equipped with four new stompbox models, four additional amp heads and three cabinet captures. The new stompboxes include boutique overdrive, classic boost and American fuzz/distortion-style circuits, while the new head models cover British-style crunch, boutique cleans, modern American high-gain rhythm tones and a range of high-gain lead sounds. The new cabinet captures then deliver British-style 4x12, American high-gain 4x12 and versatile modern 4x12 cabinet options.
The plug-in’s modules are arranged in a fixed signal path that follows the order of a standard amplified setup:
- Stomp: Includes gating, compression, distortion, overdrive, fuzz and boost.
- Head: Brings together all included amp models, and offers a unified set of controls.
- Cab: Includes cabinet model and microphone position/distance options.
- EQ: Offers high- and low-pass filters alongside a nine-band graphic EQ.
- FX: Provides modulation, delay and reverb processing.
Users are provided with detailed control over every step in the chain, and each module can be opened in Standard and Extended views, with the former offering a more stripped-back layout and the latter providing more in-depth editing and sound-design tools.
