Alongside their flagship self-titled sound-design platform, Sound Particles offer an array of creative effects and software instruments that specialise in spatial audio. Their latest release combines panning with step sequencing, making quick work of creating all manner of tempo-sync’ed stereo and immersive effects.
Unlike traditional panning tools that offer a simple set of tools for adding movement, Beat Panner equips users with detailed control over the position of their sources within the stereo field — or anywhere around the listener, in the case of immersive rigs. Its built-in sequencer offers up to 32 steps, with each step offering total control over the position of the incoming signal; transitions can be instant or gradual, and it’s even possible to introduce subtle movements within each step, or dial in position variations to keep repeating sequences sounding fresh.
A wealth of visual feedback is provided, with positional information for both stereo and immersive sources shown on a large visualiser display. There’s a built-in mixer that offers level control for all of the plug-in’s output channels, and a Virtual Centre parameter helps to keep the centre channel empty to leave room for the likes of lead instruments — or dialogue for those working in post-production.
