Sonuscore have just introduced two new additions to The Score, marking the instrument’s first major content expansion since its version 1.2 update. Cinematic Motion and Ethereal Flows add 28 new Stories to the instrument, with the former focusing on high-energy action and tension underscore, and the latter handling quieter and more delicate scores.
Cinematic Motion
The first of the two new expansions, Cinematic Motion has been built with action sequences, tension-building scenes and large-scale cinematic moments in mind. The pack delivers “powerful pulses and driving rhythmic underscore”, and contains everything from large orchestral colours and trailer-style percussion to hybrid elements and pumping synth basses. Sonuscore say that the emphasis throughout is on forward momentum, and that the content helps to establish energy and scale without competing for the composer's melodic space.
Ethereal Flows
Ethereal Flows then focuses on the opposite end of the palette. Built around delicate instruments including piano, concert harp, celesta, strings and pads, the pack has been designed for emotional drama, atmospheric underscore and otherworldly scenes.
Both of the new packs contain 28 new Stories — each of which include four keyswitch variations that offer an assortment of arrangement states — and 10 instruments that have been tailored to work together as a cohesive musical structure. Sonuscore are keen to point out that the packs are positioned as a professional scoring tool rather than shortcuts, and provide structure and arrangements frameworks while leaving the melodic composition entirely in the composer’s hands.
“The Score was always designed to keep growing. These two packs were conceived after gathering user feedback and cover the territory that composers return to most: the high-energy, momentum-driven underscore side and the more intimate, emotionally precise side. They add specialist depth to what the core instrument already covers.” - Tilman Sillescu, Co-Founder, Sonuscore / Lead Composer, Dynamedion
