Cloudvocal have just refreshed the design of their all-in-one mic, audio interface and DSP processor, introducing a series of new features which they say make the recording process more intuitive and efficient than ever before. Adopting the same minimalist and mobile-first philosophy as the original, the FlashTrack FT-15 DSP Microphone allows users to capture just about any source using their smartphone, tablet or computer.
The company say that they have been gathering feedback from their users in order to identify some of the most common issues they were facing. Coming in at the top of the list were the complexity of modern setups and frequent clipping when capturing loud sources. To address the issues, Cloudvocal set about making some changes to the mic’s physical design, as well as enhancing its onboard DSP.
The FT-15 operates via USB-C and requires no dedicated drivers, while all of its all effects, EQ and tone-shaping tools can be managed directly on the hardware itself. A built-in preamp delivers up to 46dB of gain, and Cloudvocal have utilised a unique BJT (Bipolar Junction Transistor) circuit design to overcome the standard USB power limitations. They say the architecture delivers an exceptionally wide dynamic range that allows the FT-15 to handle SPLs up to 130dB. A proprietary multi-layer acoustic treatment inside the capsule chamber helps to eliminate internal sound reflections, while a structural shock-absorption design tackles mechanical vibrations from stands and desktops.
Key Features
- Real-Time Audio Processing: Features professional-grade EQ, Compressor and Reverb processors with intuitive presets alongside advanced customisation options.
- IR (Impulse Response) Microphone Emulation: Leverages state-of-the-art IR technology to emulate the distinct sonic signatures of two legendary microphones — a classic dynamic mic and a vintage ribbon mic — giving creators a three-in-one tonal palette at the touch of a button.
- Versatile Audio Inputs: Beyond dual USB-C ports (which allow for a dedicated power supply), the FT-15 features a dual-track input via Bluetooth 5.0 and a 3.5mm aux in. This allows creators to seamlessly blend backing tracks or external cabled instruments into their recordings or live streams.
