High-end mic manufacturer Schoeps have recently introduced another member of their Desert Island Set family. On display at NAB 2026 alongside their full Colette and CMIT line-up, the Desert Island Boom Set offers an all-in-one solution aimed at boom-miking duties.
The new compact kit is built around the company’s CMC 1 U microphone amplifier, and includes a choice of two capsules. First up is the MK 41, a compact supercardioid capsule with a controlled polar pattern and neutral sound character that’s aimed at indoor dialogue capture. The KMIT shotgun capsule then provides the additional directivity required for outdoor location work. Swapping between the two options takes just seconds, and the kit comes housed in a hard-shell carry case.
