Dirty Boy Jr. Series from Warm Audio

Official collaboration with boutique builder Dirty Boy Pedals

Warm Audio Dirty Boy Jr. Series Overdrive Booster Fuzz analogue guitar pedals

Warm Audio have just announced the launch of a new guitar pedal range created in collaboration with Danny Gomez, the owner of boutique builder Dirty Boy Pedals. Comprising the Dirty Boy Jr. Overdrive, an all-analogue amp simulator, preamp and overdrive; the Dirty Boy Jr. Booster, a touch-sensitive “clean-to-mean” boost; and the Dirty Boy Jr. Fuzz, a modified vintage-style fuzz with a six-position frequency control, the new arrivals promise to bring the authentic Dirty Boy tone to a broader audience while preserving the all-important character of the original designs.

What began life as a range of custom pedals built Alex Saraceno for his son, Blues Saraceno (the former lead guitarist for Poison), Dirty Boy Pedals have since evolved into one of the boutique guitar gear industry’s best-kept secrets. Known for their distinctive analogue designs and uncompromising tone, the company have earned a devoted following among artists such as Linkin Park, John Frusciante, Neal Schon, Tom DeLonge, Phil X, Tim Pierce, Justin Derrico, Mark Lettieri and, of course, Blues Saraceno!

The company have worked closely with Warm Audio to adapt three of their most popular designs for large production runs, with both parties taking great care to ensure the tone, feel and character of the originals remains intact. Here’s what the company’s have to say about the resulting pedals:

  • Dirty Boy Jr. Overdrive: Based on the original Dirty Boy Preamp, combining boutique overdrive, preamp functionality, and all-analogue amp simulation powered by proprietary T.A.E. technology. Features preamp out, speaker-emulated output and a Variac control for tube-style sag, compression and dynamic breakup.
  • Dirty Boy Jr. Booster: Featuring the original Dirty Boy Ball Buster circuit, delivering everything from transparent clean boost to saturated British-style breakup with up to 10dB of gain, dedicated Treble and Bass controls and a three-position H-M-L Frequency switch.
  • Dirty Boy Jr. Fuzz: Built around the original Dirty Boy Afro Fuzz circuit, delivering rich sustain, harmonic saturation, dynamic cleanup and the signature six-position Frequency selector that helped define the original hand-built pedal.

"For me, choosing the right partner was everything because these circuits have a history and personality that I wasn't willing to compromise. Warm Audio understand how to build authentic circuits the right way. They know that quality components, careful manufacturing and thorough testing all play a critical role in preserving the character of the original design. Just as importantly, every pedal is individually hand-tested before it ever reaches a player. That level of quality control and accountability is very similar to what we do at Dirty Boy. We're still building our boutique pedals by hand, and those aren't going anywhere, but the Jr. Series allowed us to faithfully recreate these Dirty Boy circuits in a format that more players can experience. The goal was to preserve the tone, response and personality of the hand-built originals, and Warm Audio is the partner we trust to help us do that without compromise.” — Danny Gomez, Owner, Dirty Boy Pedals
