deFORM is the debut release from newly founded developer ebbandflow, and it’s being offered as a free download for a limited time only. Designed to “shape sanity out of chaos and instability”, the new arrival captures and an array of the company’s favourite synths and sets its sights on big-screen soundtrack composition.
The instrument features eight synth engines that each comprise eight independently captured voices. Each engine focuses on a single synthesis technique, offering a mixture of wavefolding, PWM, subtractive and granular resynthesis, with every sound painstakingly programmed, produced and captured by ebbandflow’s in-house team.
There are two main GUI pages, the first of which features a dual-layered interactive X-Y pad that allows users to quickly and precisely dial in the required amount of layered voices or dissonant unison; the section includes a pair of analogue-style filters and a set of macro controls. The next page then houses a collection of synth-style controls and onboard effects, with the likes of envelopes and polyphonic glide functions joined by an overdrive, a waveshaper, a multi-tap delay and a hall-based reverb processor.

Compatibility
deFORM is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or later, and Macs running macOS 12 and above. VST, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.
