Electro-Harmonix have just introduced the Deluxe Big Muff Pi 2, which they say offers their latest take on the classic dual-op-amp design and represents the final chapter in the long-lost Big Muff 2 story. Building off of the long-lost fuzz’s unique tone, the new Deluxe version promises to bring the concept to its peak with an array of versatile tone-shaping tools.
The Deluxe Big Muff Pi is regarded by many as the most versatile Big Muff to date, and now the Big Muff 2 has been given the full Deluxe treatment. The new version of the pedal augments the tried and tested Volume, Tone and Sustain control set with a three-way Wicker switch that offers two levels of additional high-frequency filtering, allowing for brighter tones than the standard version.
Also new is a parametric mids section equipped with a Hi/Lo Q switch and adjustable Frequency and Level controls — the section features its own dedicated footswitch, and it’s possible to control the Mids Freq parameter with an expression pedal or CV signal for some interesting wah-style effects. Finally, the new arrival features a Blend control for parallel processing, and includes a built-in noise gate.
