Engine DJ have just released Engine DJ 5.0, a free update for their Engine DJ OS embedded hardware and Engine DJ Desktop software. The launch brings built-in stem rendering to the RANE System One, as well as adding RGB waveforms, track star ratings, effects improvements and more to the entire Engine DJ hardware range.
Launched in early 2026, the RANE System One became the first standalone DJ system with motorised platters, and thanks to the latest Engine DJ update, it’s now the only unit to offer stem rendering without a computer. DJs can now choose to either pre-render their saved tracks for Stems with Engine DJ Desktop or render for Stems directly on the System One — for existing users, a new Stems option now appears in the playlist view. Tracks can still be played while they are being split into stems, and multiple tracks and playlists can be rendered simultaneously.
The multi-coloured RGB waveforms that were initially introduced with the System One are now available across all Engine DJ hardware units, with users able to switch between the new mode and the existing Triband waveforms in the Settings menu. RGB waveforms are also available on Engine DJ Desktop, providing greater visual guidance to those preparing their sets on a computer. Additionally, users can now add star ratings to tracks directly from their Engine DJ hardware.
Along with the headline features, the latest update also introduces the following:
- Reverb FX: New 32-beat options for Reverb Rise and Reverb Drop FX.
- Source Screen: New Source Screen experience with updated on-screen element and layout styling.
- Stems Demo Library: a collection of demo tracks pre-rendered for Stems offering immediate playability on Numark, Denon DJ and RANE standalone hardware.
- Performance Improvements: Additional enhancements and performance improvements across the Engine DJ ecosystem.
Availability
Engine DJ 5.0 OS and Desktop are available now as free downloads. Supported hardware users can download Engine DJ OS directly from their device via Wi-Fi or wired connection.
