British hi-fi experts iFi audio have unveiled a new Master Tuned variant of their praised iDSD GR2 portable DAC/headphone amplifier that has been developed alongside Grammy-winning producer Steve Levine.
The GR2 MT builds on the standard GR2 with a series of component-level upgrades. Its high-resolution touch colour display now carries an illuminated silkscreen logo, while the standard FR-4 circuit board has been replaced with a hydrocarbon ceramic PCB loaded with premium components. As with its predecessor, the iDSD GR2 MT has been built around a Burr-Brown PCM1795 DAC (now fitted with Levine’s two exclusive filters) and JVCKenwood’s K2HD Technology. The unit delivers over 1500mW RMS power output at 32 Ohms, and is operated via an OLED display with capacitive touchscreen control.
Wireless connectivity is provided by Bluetooth 5.4 with aptX Lossless and LDAC, enabling CD-quality playback with no data loss, while a desktop mode allows the unit to bypass its internal battery for stationary use. A selection of both digital and analogue connections are available, and the GR2 MT is fully compatible with iFi audio’s iFi Nexis app for over-the-air updates and advanced control.
“The goal of any producer is to document the authenticity and emotion behind the artist’s performance. I have voiced the iDSD GR2 MT with this same goal in mind, and I hope you feel that when you listen”. — Steve Levine
