Described as a “vocal performance station”, Klevgrand’s latest plug-in combines pitch-correction with harmony generation and a MIDI-playable voice module, and includes an array of onboard modulation functions. The engine that powers Altitude is said to deliver pitch-correction that rivals the most respected names in the industry, but has been designed to do far more than just simple corrective work, and offers a powerful set of tools that open the doors to some interesting new sounds.
Heading up the set of tools is a pitch-correction module that promises to deliver high-quality results with formant-aware processing. Alongside it’s corrective tools, the module also includes a Doubler setting with two distinct virtual double-tracking modes, a stereo-widening tool and a format-shifter that’s capable of generating some obvious, hard-hitting effects.
A Harmonies section then makes it possible to generate up to three harmony parts to complement the incoming melody. The section ensures that results remain locked in key, and offers per-part Vibrato, Humanize and Auto-formant Correction parameters — the section is also equipped with doubler and stereo-width controls. Next, a Play section allows vocals to be played like an instrument, either live using a MIDI controller or via a DAW track.
Alongside its main features, Altitude is also equipped with a comprehensive set of modulation tools. A dedicated panel offers access to three modulators that can each target up to eight different parameters, with a set of typical waveshapes joined by a 16-step sequencer-style modulation track.
