Mojave have just introduced a new live-focused handheld vocal mic created by award-winning designer David Royer. Said to bring true studio-grade condenser sound to the stage, the MA-C promises to deliver the clarity, depth and natural-sounding response that engineers expect of a high-end studio mic, but without sacrificing the durability required for use on stage.
Built around a capsule that’s been voiced specifically for vocals, the new arrival is said to boast a focused, articulate sound with excellent intelligibility and musical detail, even in high-SPL environments. A tight cardioid pattern helps to maximise rejection but with minimal off-axis colouration, while a built-in pop screen and careful body design aim to minimise plosives and handling noise.
Although the MA-C’s primary focus is on live performance, Mojave say it still performs equally well on recording sessions. Thanks to the optimisation for close-miking duties strong off-axis rejection, the new arrival is said to be a great choice for home-studio setups, podcasting and broadcast, especially in spaces that are suffering with acoustical issues.
