Acon Digital have just launched the latest version of their free voice-doubling and chorus plug‑in. Multiply 2 boasts a redesigned GUI and a set of 80 new factory presets that showcase its range of chorus and widening effects.
The plug-in is capable of generating up to six voices from a single vocal, each of which are equipped with their own pitch and loudness modulation. Each simulated voice passes through a phase-randomising filter, a move which Acon Digital say avoids the ‘metallic’ comb-filtering sound that can affect many chorus processors, and helps Multiply 2 deliver results that offer a believable sense of multiple performers singing together.
Thanks to wide modulation ranges, it’s possible to manipulate the frequency and amplitude controls to create everything from subtle movement to more extreme, unstable effects, and alongside the main voice controls, Multiply 2 also includes a selection of tone-shaping tools. five-band EQ offers low cut, low shelf, mid bell, high shelf and high cut bands, each with adjustable filter slopes, while an integrated pre-delay section makes quick work of crafting modulated echos as well as delivering classic chorus and widening effects.
Compatibility
Multiply 2 is supported on Windows and macOS (no minimum versions specified). VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.
