Parish Audio’s latest release allows users to place individual compressors anywhere in the frequency range, but takes a different approach to your average multiband dynamics processor. Parametric Compressor allows each of its bands to be placed freely with their own frequency and width settings, but unlike conventional multiband processors, it’s possible for bands to overlap.
The plug-in supports up to 10 bands of compression, each of which is equipped with Threshold, Ratio, Attack, Release and Makeup parameters, along with Frequency and Width controls that determine its position and bandwidth. Moving away from the traditional crossover approach means that bands can be narrowed down and focused on specific areas, and an interactive spectrum display makes quick work of positioning and adjusting bands while offering some visual feedback. Detection can also be set on a per-band basis, with users able to choose whether each band is triggered by its own frequency-limited signal, the full-range signal or via an external side-chain.

Compatibility
Parametric Compressor is supported on Windows and macOS systems (no minimum versions specified). VST3 and AU plug-ins are available. Note that there is no AAX version, so Pro Tools is not supported.
