Hardware-style timing shifts for software instruments

Rapid Flow miniGRID MIDI software sequencer swing timing adjustments

Following on from the release of Omniclock, Rapid Flow have launched a new sequencer plug-in that can be used to introduce hardware-style timing shifts to software instruments.

Created based on feedback from Omniclock users, miniGRID features four independent MIDI lanes that can each offer up to ±64ms of time shift, allowing users to push notes slightly in front of or behind the beat. Each lane can be assigned to a specific MIDI note, and is capable of hosting sequences up to 32 steps long. The plug-in also includes the same selection of Shuffle modes featured in Omniclock, allowing it to emulate the timing behaviour of the Roland TR‑909, MFB Tanzbar, Akai MPC60, E-MU SP‑12, Akai MPC 3000, Oberheim DMX and Linndrum LM‑1.

Key Features

  • Four Independent MIDI Lanes: Dedicated step sequence lanes with independent note assignments, time shifting, step lengths and per-lane mute and solo controls.
  • ±64 ms Per-Lane Shift: Push or pull hits across a wide 128ms timing window (-64 ms to +64 ms) with standard 0.2ms or fine 0.02ms resolution.
  • Seven Iconic Shuffle Styles: Inspired by the timing behaviour of legendary machines, bringing legendary vintage shuffle feel into your DAW without external hardware.
  • Dynamic Step Lengths: Up to 32-step sequences per lane with adjustable step lengths and global shuffle amount control.
  • DAW Transport Sync: Locks sample-accurately to DAW transport and playback; automatable main groove and sequence parameters.
