Summit for music makers heading to LA, Nov 9-11

Ableton have today announced that registration for Loop 2018 — the company’s summit for music makers — is now open. Participants can register via the Loop website at loop.ableton.com/2018/register/.

EastWest Studios
Since its inception, Loop has offered music creators some of the most inspiring talks, performances and workshops going. Moving stateside from its original home of Berlin, the “summit for music makers” is set to occupy iconic venues in Hollywood including EastWest Studios and the Montalbán Theatre.

Loop is three days of talks, performances, hands-on workshops and studio sessions aimed at sharing ideas on music, technology and creative practice. Loop 2018 will go in-depth exploring different solutions for computer-based performance, creative collaboration, and how artists tell stories with sound and music, among many others.

Those wishing to attend are encouraged to register early, as space is very limited. The full program and list of participants, presenters and performers for Loop 2018 will be announced soon.

One of the highlights from last year was a performative presentation by Italian modular synth artist Caterina Barbieri, who we interviewed last year. Her session from Loop 2017 has been posted today with a write-up from Ableton.

Other highlights included a panel with YouTube stars Andrew Huang, Rachel K Collier and Adam Neely discussing their experiences growing and maintaining an online audience for their individual music-making endeavours. And a fascinating conversation with veteran engineer Susan Rogers covering her current work on cognition, musical perception, and hearing loss, as well as her time as an engineer and record producer with Prince.
