Described as an “instantly rewarding reverb”, the latest addition to Arturia’s range of creative effects plug-ins brings together multi-stage diffusion and deep modulation possibilities in an ocean-inspired interface.
Built around the same engine that powers the company’s efx Ambient plug-in, Rev Ocean has been fine-tuned to deliver lush, enveloping sounds. It boasts a finer level of control and a more focused interface than efx Ambient, and Arturia say that while the former has a broader sonic palette, the latter is still a versatile tool that’s capable of introducing some interesting modulation anywhere in a mix.
All of the controls you’d expect to see on a reverb plug-in are present — Size, Decay, Dampening, Pre-Delay, Mix and suchlike — Rev Ocean is also equipped with an Input Filter that makes it possible to exclude high- and low-frequency content from processing, built-in ducking and transient controls and an onboard stereo width control. It also includes the following three unusual parameters:
- Abyss: Adds layered reverse textures with pitch-shifting, creating a harmonically rich, evolving reverb tail.
- Tide: Introduces modulated filtering for smooth, phase-like movement across the spectrum.
- Foam: Builds a soft, diffused attack, creating a blurred and swelling reverb texture.

Rev Ocean is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or above, and Macs running macOS 11 and higher. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.
