UVI’s latest synth takes an interesting approach to synthesis, offering a trio of synth engines that each operate within a specific frequency range. Boasting a three-band design with each band equipped with its own oscillators, waveshapers and effects, Rumble has been designed to create the weight, punch, articulation and movement required by contemporary bass-heavy productions.
The new arrival is powered by three independent frequency-based engines: Body, which handles sub-bass weight and ‘structural’ low end; Character, which offers “tonal identity and harmonic richness”; and Air, which serves to add some top-end shimmer and articulation. Each engine features its own independent oscillators, waveshapers, and effects, before converging through a shared filter stage, a three-band compressor (which is aligned to the frequency split) and a master EQ to create a single, unified voice.
“While most synths consider sound as a whole, Rumble offers full control over the spectrum through three bands. Each band has its own complete synthesis engine, achieving unmatched flexibility and precision in bass sound design.” - Thomas Kowalski, Product Lead
Each of Rumble’s engines deliver a deep set of synthesis tools. Nine oscillator models cover an array of techniques including virtual analogue, wavetable, PD, FM, drum, vocal formant, wavefolding and more. Six filter circuits then offer everything from vintage-modelled low-pass to multi-resonant designs, phaser/flanger hybrids and a vowel-sweeping formant filter. A set of 10 effect chains cover cabinet simulation, reverb and delay algorithms, transient compression, distortion and spectral transformation, each with a feedback loop that turns any effect into a self-resonating processor. As for modulation, there are 33 sources, including 16 automatable macros, four LFOs with a complex-source mixer, two 128-point MSEGs and three chaotic random generators.
Compatibility
Rumble is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or above, and Macs running macOS 10.14 and higher. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available, along with a standalone application.
Pricing & Availability
Rumble is available now, and is being offered at an introductory price of $€99 until 28 June 2026, when it will increase to its full cost of $€199. Those who own SonicBundle will receive an additional $€10 voucher.
