Shy Audio’s first two releases focused on the past, delivering recreations of the budget mixers that were common in the home-studio setups of the 1990s. Their latest offering is decidedly less crunchy-sounding, though, and shifts the focus from purposeful ‘character’ to uncompromising audio quality.
EQT-1M is a precision EQ plug-in aimed at mix-bus processing and mastering duties, and the company say it has been designed to prioritise accuracy, stability and mix translation. It features a four-band design that supports linked and unlinked stereo as well as Mid-Side operation, and helpfully, it’s possible to set that operation on a per-band basis rather than globally. Each band can be set to shelf or bell filter modes, and offer a selection of centre frequencies along with ±10dB of gain. Its centre section includes low- and high-pass filters that can also be set to function in left/right or Mid-Side modes, along with ±10dB level controls for each channel.
