Sound Radix have just released a free monophonic additive software synth that’s based on the same engine as their Radical1 instrument.
Radical1 Solo
Named Radical1 Solo, the new arrival is said to be more than just a way to discover and try out the fully fledged version, and promises to stand up as a powerful instrument in its own right. It relies on the same oscillators, filters, effects and modulation system that power Radical1, and features a simple single-layer design that’s ideal for creating basses, leads and sequenced sounds. As you might expect, sounds created in Radical1 Solo can be loaded into Radical1, allowing users to pick up where they left off with additional voices and more in-depth sound-design tools.
Radical1 Updated
Alongside the launch of its free sibling, the full version of Radical1 has been treated to an update that introduces the following new features and enhancements:
- Searchable browser.
- New Route and Quantize modulators
- Improved distortion and smoother modulation.
- Expanded MIDI and MPE settings.
- New and updated factory presets.
- Performance, workflow and stability improvements.
Compatibility
Radical1 Solo is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or later, and Macs running macOS 10.14 and above. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.

Radical1 Solo is available now as a free download. The full version of Radical1 is currently (10 August 2026) still being offered at its introductory price of $129 (usually $199).
