Tape Effects Collection from AIR Music Tech

Three new plug-ins inspired by classic tape effects

AIR Music Tech Tape Effects Collection analogue emulation plug-ins

AIR Music Tech’s latest release delivers a set of plug-ins that aim to capture the character, movement and behaviour of three classic tape-based effects. The Tape Effects Collection includes three processors that can be purchased individually or as a bundle, and can be used with Akai Pro’s MPC Standalone and Desktop systems as well as DAW sessions.

What’s Included?

Tape Saturator

Tape Saturator has been designed to emulate the idiosyncrasies of analogue tape, and promises to deliver warmth, density and harmonic richness.

  • Four saturation models with tape condition control (mint to heavily aged).
  • Wow, flutter, dropout and noise controls for authentic tape-like behaviour.
  • Tone shaping, auto gain make-up and clipping type selection.
  • Optimised for mixing and mastering across desktop and MPC workflows.

Tape Echo

Tape Echo is an authentic recreation of the Roland RE-501 Chorus Echo, and delivers a range of classic tape delay textures with multi-head modes.

  • Preamp with Dirty, Clean and Warm character modes.
  • BPM sync with natural variation, jogable playhead and chorus section.
  • Spring reverb (three sizes), bass/treble tone shaping, stereo offset and dry/wet control.
  • Motor drift, dropout and tape noise deliver an authentic character.

Tape Double Track

Inspired by the 1960s Automatic Double Tracking (ADT) technique, Tape Double Track adds natural-sounding width and movement without recording additional layers.

  • Automatic tracking with randomised head positioning and varispeed control.
  • Modulation shape control (sine, triangle, random) with warp parameter.
  • Independent source and double-track channels with pan, drive, mute, phase and level.

“These effects capture what made tape so essential to the sound of recorded music: the warmth, the movement, the imperfection that makes audio feel alive. With the Tape Effects Collection, producers get that same character with the precision and flexibility of a modern plug-in, whether they’re working on an MPC or in a DAW.” - Neal Gustafson, Software Marketing Manager at AIR Music Tech

Compatibility

All three plug-ins are supported on PCs running Windows 10 or above, and Macs running macOS 14 or higher. They are compatible with MPC Standalone and Desktop systems as well as all major DAWs —VST, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.

The Tape Effects Collection is available now, and is being offered at an introductory price of $£99 through 21 June 2026, when it will increase to $£299.
