Tracktion’s DAW software has just received its latest major update, gaining a selection of new features that have been designed to help musicians and producers work more freely without compromising the software’s capabilities. Waveform 14 introduces an all-new LLM-driven AI Assistant feature along with a refreshed GUI, multi-channel audio routing and extended ARA2 support.
AI Assistant
Waveform 14's AI Assistant tool integrates tightly with the DAW, providing users with contextual help and creative support without pulling the focus away from their music. It’s capable of gathering information from the software’s manual to answer questions, as well as exploring different composition ideas, generating new MIDI sequences or analysing existing clips and creating complementary parts. The feature runs via a pay-as-you-go system rather than a subscription.
Multi-channel Surround & ARA
The DAW’s two-channel cap has now been lifted, with input and output device buses now capable of handling multi-channel audio. Users can now record and import multi-channel files, and the DAW has been kitted out with the tools and control required for surround and spatial audio formats.
ARA2 support has been significantly expanded, too. Any ARA-compatible plug-in can now be used as a time-stretch mode, while global and chord track information is passed directly to ARA plug-ins and clip looping, copy and paste behaviour works correctly throughout arrangements.
GUI & Quality Of Life
The latest version of Waveform sports a sleek new interface, with the lower Properties panel replaced with new clip editors, a move which the company say offers a quicker and more intuitive editing experience. It also introduces a revised colour scheme, refined iconography, updated typography and an integrated title bar, and users are able to tweak the appearance to taste thanks to 18 user-definable colours.
Waveform 14 also delivers the following quality-of-life improvements:
- Simplified project management with no legacy .tracktion project files.
- DAWproject import and export for collaboration across supported DAWs.
- Plug-in instance limit raised to 25.
- Improved translations for international users.
- Enhanced project archiving for better organisation and portability.
Compatibility
Waveform 14 is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or later, and Macs running macOS 13 and above. Tracktion say that Linux support is coming soon.
Pricing & Availability
Waveform 14 is available now, with prices starting from $249. Introductory pricing of 40% off is available for a limited time following the launch (29 June 2026).
