The latest addition to UJAM’s virtual drum line-up has been designed with contemporary pop, disco, dance, and electronic productions in mind, and promises to deliver the punch and precision of electronic drums while preserving the groove and feel of a real drummer.
Virtual Drummer Neon has been inspired by the modern technique of combine the impact of electronic drum machines with the dynamics and groove of an acoustic performance. Drawing inspiration from 1970s disco acts such as Chic and The Bee Gees, the new arrival’s rhythm engine is said to deliver the ‘liveliness’ that only a real human drummer can deliver.
The drum kits captured are all original vintage kits from makers such as Ludwig and Rogers, and UJAM have recorded everything in a small booth using era-specific mics and outboard gear. Virtual Drummer Neon includes five kits that each deliver a dry, tight and punchy sound, while a set of six mix presets offer a choice of overall tonal characters that stretch from “snappy and dry” to “crunchy and slammed”. In addition to the drum sounds, the library also includes a selection of hand claps that combine a dry mono signal with stereo room and overhead mics, creating an ultra-wide stereo image.

Virtual Drummer Neon is supported on PCs running Windows 10 and above, and Macs running macOS 11 or later. VST2, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.
