Following on from the release of their Voxcraft vocal-processing plug-in, UJAM have announced the launch of Retrocraft, a new creative multi-effects processor that brings vintage character, analogue-style saturation and lo-fi effects into a single plug-in.
With the trend for saturation and vintage colouration showing no signs of going away, adding some ‘crunch’ to individual tracks and full mixes alike has become an everyday task for many producers and engineers. The latest addition to the UJAM line-up aims to offer an all-in-one alternative to complex plug-in chains, bringing together analog-inspired amp coloration, vintage playback emulation, speaker modelling, modulation, instability and ambience effects in a single, intuitive plug-in.
Retrocraft's engine draws inspiration from classic analogue equipment and playback devices, and provides users with the ability to explore everything from tape-style colouration and vinyl textures to megaphone effects, telephone speakers and degraded radio sounds. There are six processing modules included: LoFi, Modulation, Instability, Delay, Reverb, and Chop, each of which can be combined and adjusted independently, allowing the plug-in to deliver everything from subtle enhancement to dramatic sonic transformation.
A collection of 100 creative presets designed for instruments and vocals give users everything they need to get up and running quickly, while 56 basic presets showcase the plug-in’s individual effect algorithms. For those in search of quick inspiration, a built-in Surprise function instantly generates new effect combinations that can serve as a starting point for new sounds.
"We're big fans of the many ‘character’ processing tools available today, but we felt there was room for a more integrated solution that combines these types of effects with important additions like modulation and ambience processing. Instead of tediously building effect chains, Retrocraft lets you start with a complex effect combination you like and easily tweak it to make it your own. The element of surprise and fresh ideas really stands out here." - Peter Gorges, Co-Founder, UJAM
