Warm Audio launch the Reamper

Versatile re-amping tool announced

Warm Audio Reamper studio guitar re-amping tool

Warm Audio are best known for their recreations of sought-after vintage studio gear, but their latest release brings a new design to the table. Aiming to bridge the gap between guitar rigs and studio setups, the Reamper delivers a multi-purpose tool that’s capable of carrying out re-amping, placing guitar pedals into a DAW signal chain and capturing a signal from pushed valve amps at studio-friendly volumes.

The new device features an all-analogue design with independent instrument preamp and re-amp signal paths, allowing users to freely combine guitar signals, studio processors and DAW tracks. As its name suggests, the Reamper allows ‘dry’ recordings from a DAW to be routed back through real amps and pedals, but with the appropriate I/O needed to integrate keyboards and synths. It’s kitted out with variable-impedance circuitry that means it will play nicely with both passive and active instruments.

Alongside its main function, Warm Audio say that the unit also serves as a flexible routing hub for modern studios. Guitar pedals can easily be inserted into balanced line-level signal chains, allowing engineers to run the likes of fuzz, chorus, phaser or ring modulator pedals on their vocals, synths and drum busses. It works the other way around, too, allowing guitarists to take advantage of pro-audio gear in their instrument signal chain.  a built-in 50W / 8Ω power soak makes it possible to capture the sound of a fully driven valve amp, including the power section, without connecting a speaker cabinet.

The Reamper features USA-made CineMag transformers on both its input and output stages, and employs premium electronic components throughout the circuit design. As with all of the company’s gear, the device is hand-tested and inspected by in-house technicians at Warm Audio’s facility in Austin, Texas.

“Warm Audio has built its reputation on premium analogue gear inspired by the most beloved studio classics, and the Reamper represents an exciting step forward as we apply that same design philosophy to original tools that solve real problems for today’s music makers. With Reamper, you can track a performance through your favourite tube amp while simultaneously capturing a dry signal as a safety. You can send DAW tracks back through real amplifiers, run guitar pedals across vocal chains or drum busses, or drive a 50-watt tube amp into its sweet spot without making a sound. It’s a creative tool designed to easily route signals between instruments, gear and the studio.” - Bryce Young, Founder & President, Warm Audio
