Apogee’s original Jam mobile interface made waves with its release in 2010 and now the company have updated their instrument interface with some neat new features that reflect the changes in the mobile device market. The first of these is a minijack headphone output for those poor souls who have migrated so far into the future (iPhone 7 and newer) that they no longer have a headphone output on their phones. Having the headphone output on the Jam+ itself makes possible direct monitoring — solving another gripe of recording musicians: latency. The blend control lets you mix in the direct signal so you can trust your performance.

The Jam+ also has a built-in distortion circuit which Apogee claim “gives you that responsive amp and pedal feel from subtle to snarling distortion and makes virtual amps and FX sound more like the real thing.”

Though the Jam+ comes bundled with BIAS FX Jam Software from Positive Grid ($49 value) the Jam+ can be used with any instrument-level source, including basses, keyboards, or even a dynamic mic (additional accessory required).

The Jam+ has a solid metal construction and connects via USB or Lightning connector and is compatible with Mac 10.9+, Windows 10+ and iOS 9 and later.

It is distributed in the UK and ROI by Sound Technology (01462 480000)
