Downloading the app
To download a copy of the Sound On Sound app for the iPad please visit:
Please Note: The app is a 'viewer' which lets you purchase either a single issue of the magazine or subscribe for 12 months. We also provide one complete fully working free trial issue for you to experience.
Existing Print Subscribers
The app is a standalone digital product which is not related to your print magazine or our web site electronic subscription (eSub).
Issues of the magazine must be purchase via the iTunes Store and your transaction is with Apple.
Apple Newsstand
The app is design to be accessed via the Newsstand on your iPad device.
The app has been specially designed to be viewed on an iPad and is not compatible with iPhone or iPod touch devices.
The app only displays the issue content in portrait mode, not landscape.
Reading Offline
Each downloaded issue is cached to your device to read at your leisure. To read offline or in airplane mode, please first download the issue over a strong internet connection (test by loading a web page in Safari). Download via 3G phone data network is not advised due to the file size. A typical issue size is 150MB.

We currently do not offer a discounted digital subscriptions for students or as gifts.
Restoring all purchases
If you purchased a subscription or single issue through iTunes and have lost your access, you can restore them to your device as follows:
Enter Newsstand.
Tap the SOS cover image to launch the App.
(Note: If you are setting up a new device you'll have to download the free SOS App Viewer again.)
Once the SOS App Viewer screen appears, you should be able to see a selection of magazine covers. However, if you are setting up a new device none of your previous purchased issues will be present.
To restore please tap on the cog-wheel icon located top-right.
This will prompt you to 'Restore All Purchases'.
Note: if you delete and reinstall the App, you will need to restore all purchases to access your subscription.
Keeping back issues
Only single issues you have downloaded or issue within your subscription period will be kept on your device.
Deleting an issue.
Simply click 'Archive' in the library window to remove it from your device.

Checking your device date and time
Our app has a time stamp for security purposes; therefore, your app may not work if your device date and time are incorrect.

Note: due to international time differences and our publication schedule, new issues may appear on a different day of the month.
Deleting the app from your device
To remove the app, use the same procedure used for other iPad and iPhone apps:
Issue appears but does not download
Once you commence the download, if the download progress bar does not begin this may be caused by low memory, other apps running in multi-tasking mode or incorrect date and time on your device.
Low Memory - problems downloading
Sometimes the issue will not download due to memory problems on your device. To clear the memory please reboot.
On the iPad hold the sleep button until the power off slide appears, then restart.
Date and Time
Please correct the date and time on your device and close the app in multi-tasking. Please then re-launch the app and try to re-download the issue.
New issue does not appear
If you have tried the above steps to ensure you see the new issue but the issue has still not appeared, please:
