PC, PT 11, Aurora 16, & ASIO Issues?
Recently (last four months) upgraded to PT 11, running concurrently with PT 10. Started with PT 6.x.
This is not a new problem, but I have become increasingly frustrated with it, and I hope to see if there is an answer. No significant drama, just frustration.
When I boot my PC (and I'm happy to post whatever technical data are required; suffice it to say that it is a decent i7 with 12GB RAM, purpose built by ADK for music production), neither PT 10 nor PT 11 will recognize my Aurora 16. I get a message about ASIO drivers having changed. If I try to close out of PT's, the machine will chug along for a few minutes, with PT's on the screen, before the program actually closes. If I have inadvertently opened a complex session, say with 70+ tracks, the program will essentially never close, forcing me to ctrl-alt-del and start again. If PT's will actually close, I can open it again, and then I have no problems.
As a work around, I have taken to creating an empty session in each session folder, which I open whenever my PC is on a fresh boot. I can then open that empty session, receive the ASIO driver fault, close PT's (reasonably quickly, because the session is blank), and fire up PT's again, whereupon I can actually do work.
The taking a long time to close seems to be specific to PT 11.
Perhaps interestingly, if I simply "Restart" my PC, rather than turning it off and then rebooting it, the ASIO problem does not occur.
I believe that all of my drivers are current. I have spent a lot of time, lately, tinkering with one variable at a time.
Once things are running (after booting the PC, starting PT 11, receiving the ASIO message, closing PT 11, waiting for that to actually happen, and then restarting PT 11), the new PT's works very well. I am very happy with it, now that the majority of my favorite plugins are available in AAX format.
Any help you could offer would be much appreciated.
Again, I would be happy to post the deep down specifics of my system, if that would be of real use.
Thanks in advance.
