At the Summer NAMM today, we got a first look at the brand new Sontronics Solo dynamic handheld mic. Superceding the well-regarded STC80, the Solo sports a supercardioid patter and is 25% lighter and made from aluminium. The capsule design is a revision of the STC 80 capsule, with a high-output neodymium capsule which give the Solo “huge amounts of body… presence and detail that cut through in a mix without needing to EQ” says Sontronics’ Trevor Coley, the mic’s designer.
The mic is hand-made in the UK and is available any moment now, costing £95 inc. VAT in the UK. US pricing is yet to be confirmed.
