A new update for Reaper, the “reasonably priced” shareware Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) developed by Cockos (www.cockos.com), has been announced.

Version 2.41 of the Windows-only application has some neat features, some of which outdo its premium-price competitors. One such feature, which we believe is unique in a conventional DAW, is ‘parameter modulation’, which enables any automatable plug-in parameter to be modulated by an audio source, even if the plug-in doesn’t support side-chaining!

There’s also what Cockos call “fully realised” jog and scrub control that enables users to edit and scan through audio quickly and more accurately than before. Further new features enable Reaper to read and write cues within WAV files, so markers can be shared with mastering and broadcast applications, and multiple lanes of controller data can now be displayed on Reaper’s MIDI editor.
