Having distributed other manufacturer's studio monitors for several years, Unity Audio began manufacturing their own highly acclaimed brand of speakers in 2009. Their first offering, The Rock, was reviewed in April 2010 in Sound On Sound, and was praised for its "impressive mid-range detail and clarity".
Unity Audio followed this up with a larger monitor, The Boulder in 2012, and at Musikmesse, some smaller near-field monitors were on show, which also retain the familiar geological nomenclature.
These new monitors, known as Pebble, follow the same sealed cabinet design as their larger brethren, and are due to have an accompanying pair of sub woofers later in the year. Paul White had a chance to talk to Kevin Walker, MD of Unity Audio, at Musikmesse to find out more.
