SNAMM 2013: Zoom H6 portable 6-track recorder (Video)

Zoom's new audio recorder with interchangeable capsules, up close

We had a bit of info about the Zoom H6 back in April, but here at Summer NAMM in Nashville we were able to have a much closer look.

What makes the H6 so appealing is the ability to switch between different capsules. The H6 ships with an XY pair and Mid-Side module, and there's also a shotgun mic option, which will keep the videographers out there happy.

For musicians and recording engineers, there is a two-input expansion module, allowing six simultaneous external microphone or line inputs. The expansion module has independent 20dB pads and the integral XLR inputs also feature independently switchable phantom power.

The H6 can record at 96kHz, at 24 bit resolution onto SD media, up to 128GB in capacity, and Zoom claim the device has a battery life of 20 hours using four AA batteries.

When you're not out and about recording with the H6, it can also be used as a six-input audio interface, via a USB connection.

Check the video out for a closer look, and we'll bring you a full review as soon as we can get our hands on one.
