Soniccouture release Geosonics

Sound design instrument uses field recordings

Geosonics sound design instrument from SoniccoutureChris Watson, a world-leading wildlife and nature documentary recordist, teams up with Soniccouture to present Geosonics, a library of rare sonic artifacts that Soniccouture claim cannot be found anywhere else. And, considering how inhospitable and remote some of the locations are that were used to capture the sounds, they could very well be right.

Over his 30-year career as a documentary sound recordist, Chris Watson has worked on dozens of radio and television productions, including David Attenborough's The Life of Birds and Frozen Planet, both of which won BAFTAs for best factual sound.

Geosonics brings together atmospheres collected from places as far flung as the North Pole and the Kalahari desert, and captures the sounds of wire fences and the ethereal humming of power lines.

On top of the actual sound recordings available, there are also over 400 pad and soundscape presets created by top sound designers including Ian Boddy, Biomechanoid, Martin Walker and Andy Wheddon.

Geosonics uses the free Kontakt player and costs £119 from the Soniccouture website.
