IK Multimedia release iRig Pro

XLR, jack and MIDI input for your iOS device and Mac

iRig Pro from IK MultimediaiRig Pro from IK MultimediaWe reviewed the IK Multimedia iRig HD in August 2013 (http://sosm.ag/aug13-appworks) but now they’re back with a further-improved model, the iRig Pro, which provides XLR, quarter-inch jack and MIDI input for your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and Mac, and it only costs £130$150.

Pocket-sized, and powered by a 9V battery, the iRig Pro is designed to give mobile musicians and songwriters an interface that can handle the widest variety of audio input signals, so they can create music and audio on the go.

Thanks to the inclusion of full 48V phantom power, both dynamic and condenser mics can be used with iRig Pro. Also, the jack input can be used for instrument and line-level sources.

Impressively for a device of this size, the iRig Pro is equipped with MIDI input for keyboards, drum pads and controllers, making it a really versatile piece of kit.

The audio and MIDI inputs can be used simultaneously, allowing one-take vocal and keyboard recording, for example.

The iRig Pro ships with a suite of IK Multimedia music-creation iOS apps such as Amplitube, VocaLive, SampleTank, iGrand and iRig Recorder, and is compatible with most audio and MIDI processing apps for the mobile musician, such as Auria and Garageband, although Amplitube on iPhone is pictured.

The iRig Pro is compatible with Mac systems and also comes with a bundle of premium software including AmpliTube, T-RackS and SampleTank.
