Everyone knows that sound engineering can be a lonely pursuit, but a new online service called Balanced Connections aims to change all that, by providing a platform for single sound engineers to meet potential partners in their local area.
Balanced Connections works much like any other dating site, in that you fill out your profile, and the site then finds the most suitable matches in your area. Creating a Balanced Connections dating profile couldn't be easier: simply fill out a questionnaire (typical questions include: What DAW do you use? Do you prefer analogue or digital mixers? What's your go-to preamp?), upload some photos of yourself (preferably at a mixing console), and add a short bio.
The dating site costs $25 a month (half the price of an Adobe Creative Cloud subscription), and for that you get a full profile, complete with photos of your beard, tattoos and piercings.
Parent company Spod Corp have plenty of previous experience in unkempt dating, having designed a number of web sites to help various niche professionals find love.
Hot Sound Engineers in your area want to meet you now!Company President and CEO Brad Tremens had this to say on the launch of the Balanced Connections web site: "We've brought love to thousands of socially awkward singletons and we see no reason why we can't do the same for audio engineers. We here at Spod Corp believe that questionable standards of personal hygiene should never be a barrier between a man and a potential mate and we're committed to finding your ideal match, no matter how long it's been since you last washed your Dinosaur Jnr T-shirt."
When asked about his plans for the future of Balanced Connections, Mr Tremens replied "well we'd sure like to get some women involved one day…"
