BILL NELSON: Be-Bop Deluxe And Beyond Tour

2004 marks the 30th anniversary of the release of Be-Bop Deluxe's first EMI album, Axe Victim. This has inspired Bill Nelson to assemble a seven-piece band, The Lost Satellites, and embark upon a UK tour designed to celebrate the last 30 years of his music. These unique concerts will include classic songs from the Be-Bop Deluxe and Red Noise years, material from Bill's wide-ranging solo career, as well as new music and video presentations.

Bill Nelson live performances are a rare event, performances with a band even more so. Excluding a one-off solo concert with session musicians in 2002, the last time that Bill Nelson toured the UK with a band was in the early 1980s and before that, during the 1970s with Be-Bop Deluxe and Red Noise.

In the interim, Bill has concentrated almost entirely on studio recordings, releasing a constant stream of critically-acclaimed exploratory music.

To celebrate this anniversary, on 20 September EMI are releasing a new compilation CD Postcards From The Future... Introducing Be-Bop Deluxe, along with remasters of Axe Victim, Futurama, Modern Music, Live In The Air Age! and Drastic Plastic albums.

Some readers of SOS will know that the magazine title was inspired by Nelson's new wave masterpiece Sound-On-Sound (1979). Without the inspiration of Bill's music and his passion for recording and experimentation, SOS magazine might never have been founded.
